Using evidence to inform the City of Toronto’s programming for vulnerable young people
The City of Toronto offers a suite of programs to serve the needs of vulnerable youth by addressing the root causes of violence and the barriers some young people face. Blueprint is supporting the City of Toronto’s efforts by using data and evidence to ensure that the programs are having a positive impact on the lives of young people, and to identify opportunities for strengthening existing programs and services.
Blueprint is supporting the efforts of the City of Toronto’s Youth Development Unit in designing and delivering programs targeted to youth who are most vulnerable to involvement in serious crime. We are developing a monitoring and evaluation strategy for eight programs that seek to improve opportunities for young people, and for the Youth Development Unit as a whole.
Our team is conducting evaluation assessments, identifying gaps and opportunities in service delivery and developing a multi-year strategic monitoring and evaluation plan that will provide the data and evidence necessary to make ongoing improvements and target investments to areas of highest need. The plans will identify relevant outcomes and indicators, appropriate data-collection tools, infrastructure requirements and processes for ongoing monitoring and evaluation activities.
Blueprint’s efforts will provide a strong evidence base to guide the future work of the Youth Development Unit and improve the lives of the city’s most vulnerable young people.
